Veneer Teeth Whitening
Farmington Hills, MI
Whiter teeth can make your smile look brighter and more beautiful. However, as teeth age, they naturally turn a dull yellow. Different foods and drinks can also stain your teeth and smoking, and some medications can cause dental discoloration.

Chemical whiteners can whiten teeth that have mild to moderate discolorations. For more severe cases of dental discoloration, however, veneer teeth whitening is an effective solution.
What is a Dental Veneer
A dental veneer is a thin, polished, enamel-colored material applied to the front of the tooth to make it more visually appealing. Made from porcelain or composite resin, these attach to the teeth using a strong glue to keep them in place. Once applied, they look just like the surface of a normal tooth and offer the same protection while eating as the enamel of your tooth. As they age and wear down, dental veneers require replacement after around 8 to 15 years of use.
Before applying a dental veneer, the dentist shaves off a thin layer of enamel. This gives the glue a strong surface to bond to and keeps the veneer from sticking up too far forward in relation to the teeth around it. This makes applying a veneer an irreversible process.
If an irreversible solution that requires replacement every decade or so sounds like too much of an investment to you, then Lumineers might be a better solution. Lumineers are extremely thin veneers, so unlike porcelain veneers, Lumineers don’t require the removal of tooth material before application. They also use a different glue that binds them strongly to the surface of the tooth.
Caring for Your Veneers
Veneers, just like teeth, require regular maintenance to keep them clean and free from stains and blemishes. Brush and floss as you normally would but replace your toothpaste with a non-abrasive fluoride-enriched variety. You may also want to avoid staining foods and drinks such as coffee, tea, carbonated beverages, and berries. Smoking after getting veneers is also strongly discouraged.
With proper care, your dental veneers can last a very long time, giving you many years of perfect smiles.
