Dental Implant Crown Restoration
Bloomfield Hills, MI
A dental implant crown restoration procedure might be the right treatment option for you when restorative dentistry isn’t. If one of your teeth is missing, you can replace it through dental implant crown restoration treatment.
During the procedure, a dentist surgically places the implant into your jawbone, and after several months of integration with the jawbone, a custom-made crown is attached to fill the space left by the missing tooth.

Therefore, for the procedure to be successful, having a healthy jawbone is crucial. You can still have the jawbone corrected surgically via bone grafting or bone distraction.
How does the procedure work?
As specialists in dental implant crown restoration, at Dr. Scott J. Owens clinic, we complete a thorough examination including X-rays of your jawbone. We shall also review your previous medical history and create impressions of your teeth before scheduling you for the surgery. The surgery to fix the implant-supported crown occurs in two phases:
- First Phase
The first phase involves placing the implant in the jawbone and securing it with an implant platform with a cover screw, which prevents the bone from ingrowing during the six-month recovery period.
Generally, the upper jaw takes longer to heal than the lower jaw, and we complete the second phase after confirming that the implant has fused with the jawbone.
- Second Phase
Fortunately, the second phase is much simpler than the first phase. It involves making an incision to expose the heads of the implants. We punch the implant platform, remove the cover screw, and replace it with a healing abutment. After the surgery, we conduct a follow-up process to confirm that the tissue around the surgical area is healing well.
For the procedure to be successful, having a healthy jawbone is crucial. You can still have the jawbone corrected surgically via bone grafting or bone distraction.
We review all your functional and aesthetic expectations until you gain full recovery.
